Keep learning between classes

Explore Ayurvedic Herbs of the Caribbean, written by our founder Carlisle Amlak — a practical guide to the plants growing right outside your door and how to work with them safely. Alongside it you'll find our faculty blog, packed with foundational teaching on doshas, digestion, daily routine and seasonal care, and a growing library of her favorite recipes for every season. Everything here is a place to keep learning, whether you're a student in the program, a graduate refreshing your fundamentals, or simply curious where to begin.

Ayurvedic Herbs of the Caribbean

Written by our founder Carlisle Amlak, this is the first book of its kind — more than 65 Caribbean medicinal plants studied through the lens of classical Ayurveda. Each entry covers botanical identification, energetics of taste, virya and vipaka, traditional local uses, preparation methods and clinical application. Rather than replacing the region's living herbal traditions, it gives them an energetic framework, so the plants growing in your own yard become medicine you can actually work with.

Foundations of Practice

Our faculty breaks down the foundational concepts of Ayurveda — the doshas, agni and digestion, the qualities, daily and seasonal routine, and how the classical texts apply to modern life. It is meant to be used: students return to it to reinforce what they are studying, and clients use it as plain-language guidance for their own self care between sessions.

Ayurvedic recipes

Traditional favorites alongside creative contemporary dishes, all built on the qualities of nature — the secret at the heart of Ayurvedic cooking. Cooling drinks for hot months, homemade coconut milk, teas and decoctions, kitchari and everyday meals you can adjust to each person's constitution. Use a recipe whole or borrow from it to enhance a dish you already love; the aim is food prepared with attention and care that supports the season you are actually in.
