500 Hour Professional Ayurveda Course

This program includes an invitation to India! Every other year Maha Vidya will take a group of students to the Arya Academia Pancha Karma Clinic in Pune, India to work in person with Dr Amruta Athale to study botanical medicine. Trip includes outings to sacred sites, visits to Botanical Gardens and an in-depth presentation of local plants and how to process them to make medicinals.

In-depth study of traditional Ayurveda will be offered in this 18 month course. Health care professionals can use these professional techniques in their private practice. For those new to Ayurveda this will create a strong foundation for personal study, self healing practices and confidence surrounding the utilization of Ayurveda in your own home. Dr Athale will join us in Puerto Rico towards the end of the program to share 50 hours of hands on technical training including marma, svedana and herbal therapies. Those interested will be offered the opportunity to travel to Pune with us after the program to share time in the Arya clinic learning herbal medicine, plant identification, and diagnostic and therapeutic techniques.

Module One

Understanding Ayurveda principles and practices of Ayurvedic diet, lifestyle, anatomy, physiology, self and client relationships and support of increasing self awareness, self nurturance, community building and family health. Starting from the foundations of Ayurvedic theory we will learn from the texts outlines for self-care, daily regimen, seasonal regimen, in depth understanding of local environments and how to understand the body from the lense of Ayurveda.

Module Two

Assessment of the individual and condition on a physical, psychological and intellectual level.

This will support application of information for self and family care and for working with clients or those in your community. Outlines shared for specific areas of interest and study with examples of how you can begin to implement this knowledge first within ourself and eventually the community. Practice workshops will challenge you to bring this knowledge into action while finding your unique voice sharing what you have learned.

 

Module Three

Ayurvedic principles of preventative healthcare management with the help of specific regimens, diets and therapies. Also included is management of abnormalities of digestion with the help of food, lifestyle, regimens and herbs. Outlines for each constitution are studied with specifics on common imbalance and treatment for each of the three dosha.

-Concept of Agni and Ama (stages and management)

–Concept of Dhatu (formation and transformation)

-Concept of Srotas

-Basic Principles of Ayurveda Dietetics

-Concept of Virya or Potency of the food

-Concept of Vipaka ( Post digestive Effect)

-Concept of Prabhava (Unique or Specific action)

-The Healthy Pulse and The Abnormal Pulse

-Concept and Examination of Mala (Excreta)

-Jivha (Tongue)

-Shabda (Speech and Voice)

-Sparsha (Touch, Skin etc.)

-Druka (Eyes, eye sight etc.)

-Dashavidha Pariksha or Ten folds examination of Patients with reference to Charak Samhita

-Prakruti (Constitution)

-Vikruti Pariksha or (Disease susceptibility)

-Sara Pariksha (Examination of Quality or Essence of Dhatus)

-Sattva (Mental Faculties)

-Srotas Examination or Systemic Examination or Examination of Channel System

-Management with Ayurveda

Upon completion of our 500 Hour Professional Program Maha Vidya Ayurveda offers mentorship to those looking to begin practice teaching and sharing health practices in the field of Ayurveda. Outlines for client care, workshops, practice sessions and case studies are included.

 

 

Lead Teacher- Dr Amruta Athale

 

Our lead teacher Dr. Amruta Ketan Athale BAMS, MD (Ayurveda), R.M.A.S. (U.S.A), C.A.P (Canada) is a physician trained in Ayurveda and modern medicine in a 8.5 year program in India under the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences.

Being involved as Ayurveda Physician and Mentor, at the most reputable Ayurveda Hospitals, Clinics and Institutes for more than 17 years in India and Abroad taught her a practical approach for patients care.

She has traveled and lived extensively all over the world to offer consultations, develop and teach courses, deliver lectures, for health care professionals and individuals.

Currently she is practicing Ayurveda at her Ayurveda and Panchkarma center situated at Pune, Maharashtra, India. She is teaching Ayurveda to people from more that 30 countries. Many of her students are practicing Ayurveda all over the world.

 

Assistant Teacher- Carlisle Amlak CAS, PKS, Certified Herbalist

 

Carlisle Amlak is a Ayurvedic Practitioner, Pancha Karma Specialist, Certified Herbalist, Sai Shakti healer and Yoga teacher. She has studied these ancient practices for over 20 years. Receiving training from the University of Natural Medicine, the California College of Ayurveda, American Institute of Vedic Studies, Arya Academy and the East West School of Herbology. She has completed teachers trainings with the Himalayan Institute, Universal Yoga and Pranakriya Yoga. Well versed in the Vedic tradition and dedicated to upholding the true teachings of the yogic philosophy and application in the modern world. Her on-going inspiration comes from consistent practice and dedication to the teachings of Sri Kaleshwar whose blessings have continued to open her heart and soul to the truth of the Divine teachings offered to us daily in our experience in Creation.

She has been given a unique opportunity to share these teachings throughout the continental US as well as in Europe, Asia, the Caribbean and South America. Currently she and her family reside between Maine and Puerto Rico, sharing knowledge shares, homeschooling and exciting travels with her two children, gardening and spending time studying nature.
